Important Questions To Ask When Hiring A Dog Bite Lawyer In Colorado

After a traumatic dog bite incident in Colorado, you are right to seek legal representation for injury compensation and justice. However, the compensation amount you receive after a legal battle predominantly depends on the lawyer you choose to fight your case. Therefore, you must select the best one to increase your chances of achieving the best outcome. It’s vital to understand that not all attorneys are equal. So, legwork is needed to work with the best lawyer for your case.

Important Questions to Ask a Colorado Dog Bite Lawyer

Here are some questions you should ask a dog bite attorney before you hire them.

1. How extensive is your background in handling cases related to dog bites?

It’s said experience is second to none, and we couldn’t agree more. Therefore, the most crucial question to ask a lawyer is their experience in dog bite cases to determine their expertise in this area. A seasoned Colorado dog bite lawyer with a wealth of experience will have a sound understanding of the relevant dog bite laws specific to the state, precedents, and the unique challenges that these cases present. Rest assured, they can easily navigate the complexities of the dog bite cases and get you the compensation you are entitled for.

2. Can you outline the procedural steps involved in handling dog bite cases in Colorado?

The next question to ask the lawyer is about the legal process. This will help you understand and navigate the legal complexities of the case smoothly. Similarly, an experienced and proficient dog bite attorney in Colorado can explain the steps of pursuing a dog bite case such as:

  • Evidence collection
  • Filing a dog bite incident claim
  • Negotiations
  • Potential court proceedings

3. What methods do you employ in investigating dog bite cases?

Investigation plays a pivotal role in building a strong case. A meticulous investigation is essential for establishing liability and securing fair compensation.

Hence, it is essential to understand the lawyer’s approach to collecting crucial evidence, interviewing eyewitnesses, assessing the incident scene and circumstances, and determining liability.

If you think the attorney’s approach isn’t the best one, you can work with some other lawyer for case representation.

4. How do I file a claim, and what can I get compensated for in a dog bite incident?

In Colorado, individuals who have sustained injuries from a dog bite can pursue compensation through three distinct claims. These include:

The choice of the claim depends on the unique circumstances of the case. Therefore, if you have experienced an injury due to someone else’s dog in Colorado, the compensation you’ll receive will depend on the claim type and specific circumstance. Hence, it is crucial to work with a seasoned attorney who has a solid understanding of the dog bite laws in Colorado. Such a lawyer can help you collect the maximum amount in compensation for economic and non-economic losses incurred.

5. How Do You Communicate with Clients?

Clear and efficient communication is crucial throughout legal proceedings. It is advisable to inquire about the lawyer’s communication style and frequency. Understanding the protocol for receiving updates, along with the means of reaching your lawyer when necessary, can help mitigate stress during an already challenging period.

The 2021 McCormick & Murphy, P.C. Scholarship Winner

The office of McCormick & Murphy, P.C. – A Personal Injury Law Firm is pleased to announce the winner of the 2021 McCormick & Murphy P.C. Scholarship: Chloe Nguyen who will attend the University of Michigan in the Fall 2021 Semester.

Speaking on her plans for school and after, Miss. Nguyen said, “I intend to earn a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering with minors related to German and biochemical engineering. While at the University of Michigan, I intend to take full advantage of the opportunities afforded to me. For example, I was recently accepted into the Women in Science and Engineering residence program and will be applying for the engineering honors program.

Since reading Mars Rover Curiosity: An Inside Account from Curiosity’s Chief Engineer (and watching The Martian) in elementary school, my fascination with space has only grown. It is my dream to lead a project that contributes to a human mission to Mars. Beyond this, I hope to design spacecraft that will collect valuable data relevant to the betterment of society on Earth. While at the University of Michigan, my aerospace path will be tailored towards rocket and spacecraft propulsion. Moreover, I will join the Mars Rover Team that directly contributes to research involving porotypes of manned rovers for use in a human mission to Mars.

The College of Engineering offers seven study abroad opportunities in Germany. I am most interested in the International Engineering Summer School at Berlin University of Technology. It combines my current engineering needs with culture immersion and I hope to participate in my graduate years. Beyond academics, I intend to join and lead clubs that correspond to my passions, e.g., social rights, mathematics, horseback riding.

The University of Michigan is ranked as one of the top public schools, as well as one of the best for undergraduate aerospace engineering. The McCormick & Murphy Scholarship affords me the opportunity to attend the University of Michigan as it covers the extra cost of attendance, including personal essentials, books, and lab fees. I want to express how grateful I am for being chosen as one of this year’s recipients of the scholarship. Due to the generosity of the firm, I will be able to devote more time and attention to my studies this year without the added pressure of a student loan. My pursual of a career in engineering would not be nearly as plausible without such assistance and I greatly appreciate the investment in my future. Once again, I thank the firm and accompanying members for their time, work, and support.”

We extend our congratulations to Miss Nguyen and are looking forward to seeing her grow and advance in her education and future career.

We are proud to offer our support to the following organizations. Each of the groups below provided critical support and services and we are happy to support their work:

Ronald McDonald House of Southern Colorado
The Ronald McDonald House exists for the simple yet poignant fact: according to studies, when a child is hospitalized, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed. Family centered care helps seriously-ill children and their families heal faster and cope better. Built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child.

Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation
Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation raises funds solely for Children’s Hospital Colorado in support of its mission. We do this through individual, corporate and planned giving as well as special event fundraising. Our donors help thousands of children every year to dream, hope and triumph. We hope that you are ready to join this special family of supporters.

Brain Injury Association of America
BIAA’s mission is to advance awareness, research, treatment, and education and to improve the quality of life for all people affected by brain injury. We are dedicated to increasing access to quality health care and raising awareness and understanding of brain injury. With a network of state affiliates, local chapters, and support groups, we are the voice of brain injury.

The National Kidney Foundation
The National Kidney Foundation is the leading organization in the U.S. dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease for hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, millions of patients and their families, and tens of millions of Americans at risk.

Sportsman Foundation For Military Families
Our U.S. Armed Forces veterans and their families have sacrificed much for our freedom and our way of life. The Sportsmen’s Foundation for Military Families (SFMF) was established to honor that sacrifice. Eligible military veteran families are given the opportunity to participate in a professionally guided outdoor adventure. For the veteran family, an SFMF experience is often the trip of a lifetime, and is extremely therapeutic for those who could use a helping hand in recovery. It is our humble way of saying “thank you” for your service.

Bus to Show
Bus to Show’s mission is to reduce impaired driving and fuel consumption by organizing bus transportation to and from high risk events. As personal injury lawyers who’ve helped people deal with the aftermath of a DUI accident, this is a mission we are more than happy to support.

Junior Achievement USA
Junior Achievement’s Purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. The envisioned future – what we aspire to become. Colorado Springs Teen Court
Over 8,000 at-risk teens in the last twenty-two years have walked through the doors of the Municipal Courthouse on their way to Teen Court. Only 7% of them return with a second offense. What makes Teen Court work? Restorative Justice for Teens by Teens is more than a slogan—it’s what we do. Over 200 teen volunteers work with their at-risk peers every year, hearing cases and determining appropriate ways to repair harm.

Waldo Canyon Burn Area Tree Planting Project
Last year as part of the Annual Law Days events, The El Paso County Bar Association (EPCBA) and the Coalition for the Upper South Platte (CUSP) are teaming up to plant 1,000 trees in the Waldo Canyon Burn Area. The tree planting efforts took place in the burn scar area above Cascade on Pyramid Mountain. The previous year the EPCBA and CUSP planted 1,000 trees in Flying W Ranch. Post fire flooding poses a major threat of damage to homes and lives and we hope that these tree planting efforts will diminish some of that risk.

M+M Teams Up With Uber To Offer Free Rides To Ronald McDonald House Guests

COLORADO SPRINGS – November 23, 2015 — For families of critically ill, hospitalized children, holidays can be especially tough. Helping ease their burdens, McCormick & Murphy has teamed up with Uber, offering free rides for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

Many families staying at the Ronald McDonald House arrive via Flight for Life. Free Uber rides reduce transportation barriers and provide some normalcy in an often unknown city. We are so appreciative of the effort that McCormick & Murphy has put into this program. Our families have so many other things to worry about, so this is one less stress for them. The firm’s generosity will make the holidays better for many of our folks!” – Heather Brewer, House Assistant at the Ronald McDonald House

Program Details

Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Southern Colorado will be able to take advantage of the free Uber rides for six consecutive weeks, beginning Monday, November 23 (the week of Thanksgiving) and ending Sunday, January 3rd.
